Legal practice

My legal practice focuses on trusts, estates and personal tax planning.

I help clients with identifying income-splitting opportunities, maximizing capital gain exemptions, dealing with US-Canada cross-border considerations and drafting their wills, trusts and powers of attorney.

I work with clients to simplify complex wealth circumstances, grow and protect family estates and legacies as well as implement tax-effective philanthropic strategies.

My greatest joy ...

"is connecting with people through food and sharing stories"

Get to know me

I'm empathetic, creative and gifted at thinking up new and better ways to help my clients meet their needs and goals. I have dedicated my career to helping entrepreneurs, business owners and families of wealth work with the unique challenges and opportunities they face.

My experience encompasses legal practice, strategic wealth planning and family enterprise strategy.

Most recently, as Head of Strategic Wealth Planning at an institutional grade multi-family office, I provided comprehensive tax education and guidance as well as led sophisticated estate, trust and business succession planning.

I practiced law at a boutique law firm that specializes in US-Canada cross-border planning and at a Bay Street law firm, where my practice focused on tax, estates and trusts.

Also, I was a very high net worth private banker at a leading Canadian bank, where I created bespoke credit and lending vehicles and advised clients on business succession matters and  financial literacy.

I am committed to civic engagement, focusing on community and culture.

Through the Yassiri Family Foundation, I engage with organizations that use food and cooking to foster social connections and community ties.

For several years, I volunteered as a gallery guide at the AGO, concentrating on modern artistic movements in Canada.

I love hospitality and the pleasures of the table and I am a firm believer that breaking bread together is the best way to meaningful social interaction.

I'm always eager to meet new people and learn about diverse cultures--I've traveled to over 40 countries, including Japan, Egypt and Peru.
